Hi, I am Rick Wellman, celebrity colorist and salon owner. Patrick and I have just returned from L.A. getting tons of celebs color ready for the red carpet. We hosted at a beautiful villa at the Sunset Marquis, offering hair and make-up services, accupunture facial rejuvenation, massages and amazing gift bags, including F.H.I. blowdryers and irons, eco-friendly Belegenza hair products and the new and exciting Sebastian Whipped Cream! We must have had over 300 people during those fast and furious 3 days of fun. We had a revolving door of celebs visit us, including the cast of the new 90210, the girls from “The Hills,” Nikki Hilton and the gorgeous, Eva Longoria! Oh, I forgot about Kato Kalin…he showed up for the free champagne and of course the gift bag valued at over $600. Just remember this: Celeb hair is made up of the same fabric as ours, they just have Patrick and me to make their hair look like it is made of an out-of-this-world silk. Of Course Donna! I remember you! You were one of my favorites who always followed my advice by changing your hair color with the seasons! I remember every fall we would add warm tones of auburn to spice you up! I also remember the heart-warming story when your son shaved his head to support his father who had to due to chemotherapy.

Okay…I am impressed, (and that takes alot). I just spent the day with 6 of the most talented haircorists in the industry hand picked by the most advanced hair color companies in the world…WELLA! I was chosen to share my professional thoughts and innovative ideas to support Wella’s amazing new color technology.
My challenge was to utilize thier new formulation to create the ultimate special blonde (my category of choice). I could not believe that as I was mixing and applying this new high lift blonde color that did not smell like a cleaning solution..instead it almost smelled like candy! And the results…shinier and super resiliant, without the usaul unwanted brass.
But of course,if it were as simple as I always preach… “if gorgeous color came in a bottle or box, we all would have it!” The secret lies in the professional mind and application.
My inspiration was topped off with the gorgeous mode( Marlena) that I just met and her begging me to take her on as a frequent client to maintain her newly found shade of blonde.

I loved the color you did for Lauren Jones in the “In (Beauty) Treatment” segment in the August 2009 Oprah Magazine!! I do not live in NY but would love for my stylist to duplicate it for me. Could you help? Thank you – Lauri
Hi Lauri,
I am glad you liked Laren Jone’s color in the Oprah magazine. I would first suggest taking the picture in of Lauren and making sure your stylist is comfortable and confident producing that color. If he or she needs any assistance or more info have them e mail me at rick@patrickmelvillesalon.com. It is virtually impossible for me to give you a formula that will be fool proof without knowing the exact history and condition of the hair. Let me know how it turns out for you!
