Much like the name Patrick itself, the salon blends the names, talent and styles of two visionaries in the beauty world, Rick Wellman and Patrick Melville.

Renowned in the worlds of styling and color, Patrick Melville and Rick Wellman have re-imagined the concept of the salon. Their philosophy on healthy, beautiful hair both transcends and sets the trends – defining modern classics, while creating fashion-forward styles.

The salon’s modern, yet comfortable environment makes all feel welcome, from New York’s elite to out-of-town visitors. The duo has created a space where timeless style, well-being and cutting-edge innovation converge in an optimal environment to nurture and create beauty.

In July of 2007 Rick and Patrick opened the Patrick Melville Salon at Rockefeller Center. Since its opening, the salon has welcomed a wide range of clientele, from discerning men and women to celebrities including Demi Moore, Brooke Shields, Mariska Hargitay, Heidi Klum, Petra Nemcova and Harry Connick Jr.

Patrick Melville

Patrick Melville is one of the most sought-after hairstylists in the world, having created signature looks for everyone from celebrities to super models to everyday women. With a career that spans 30-plus years, Patrick is sought-after and well-respected for both his expertise and his creativity.

A former boxer in England, Patrick began his hairstyling career in London for British Vogue. Patrick was quickly recognized as a rising talent and was recruited to join the creative team at the renowned Pipino Buccheri Salon in New York City. Patrick then moved onto to the Warren-Tricomi Salon where he spent several years as Creative Director.

Patrick is frequently called upon by fashion photographers to work behind-the-scenes to create hairstyles at high fashion photo shoots. His work has graced the pages of Vogue, W, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar, and he has collaborated with renowned editorial photographers such as Patrick Demarchelier, Gilles Bensimon, Kurt Marcus, Peggy Sirota and Walter Chin.

In July of 2007, Patrick teamed up with colorist Rick Wellman to open the Patrick Melville Salon at Rockefeller Center, where he is often found sharing his talents with a wide range of clients including Ashley Judd, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Halle Berry, Heidi Klum, Demi Moore, Molly Sims, Sharon Stone, Petra Nemcova, Rosario Dawson, Brooke Shields, Sting, Mark Wahlberg, Tom Cruise and Harry Connick Jr., to name a few.

Rick Wellman

Master Colorist Rick Wellman is widely recognized as one of the most talented and innovative colorists in the world. His experience spans more than 20 years, during which time he has become a key figure in the world of hair coloring. His artistic vision has made him a master of customized color, beautiful vibrant tones and most importantly, natural hair color.

Originally from Ohio, he recognized his passion for painting at a young age and enrolled in advanced cosmetology schools to explore his artistic interests. In Toronto and London, he attended Vidal Sassoon, Rita Rusk and Alan International, earning him the title of platform artist and leading him to work with the late, great Paul Mitchell and British award-winning hairstylist Trevor Sorbie.

Over the years, Rick has witnessed his clients alter their beauty regimens from high to low maintenance. Identifying this inspired Rick to invent his signature color treatment, a less severe version of highlights called Biolights. The treatment uses 100% biodegradable cotton pads and offers the advantage of foils and French hair painting technique, Balayage, in one.

In July of 2007 Rick teamed up with stylist Patrick Melville to open the Patrick Melville Salon at Rockefeller Center where he now welcomes his loyal clientele including celebrities: Brooke Shields, Tina Fey, Mariska Hargitay, Nicole Scherzinger, Lindsay Lohan, former Miss Universe and Clairol Spokesmodel, Dayanara Torres and supermodel Petra Nemcova.
